Opportunity for domestic innovators to locally engage in development of 5G Advanced and 6G

New Delhi, India | February 09, 2026
The Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) is hosting meetings of the SA (Service and System Aspects) and CT (Core Network and Terminals) working groups of 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) in Goa from 09 to 13 February 2026, reinforcing India’s growing role in global telecommunications standardisation.
Approximately 800 delegates representing 240 companies from over 55 countries are expected to attend these meetings that include SA#1 to SA#6, and CT#1, CT#3 and CT#4 working groups. The discussions are expected to focus on advancing ongoing work under 3GPP 5G-Advanced and initiating technical studies for 6G as a part of release 20. 6G study items will form a critical foundation for defining 6G specifications starting with Release 21.
TSDSI has been bringing 3GPP meetings to India regularly in its endeavour to enable domestic innovators by reducing their logistical and resource barriers for participation and contribution in development of global mobile specifications that are currently focussed on 5G Advanced and 6G.
TSDSI thanks DoT for their continued support in hosting the meetings, by way of assisting in securing the necessary approvals for travel of the foreign delegates and financial grant for hosting the meetings. TSDSI also acknowledges the support from Ministry of External Affairs and its offices around the world for timely processing of visa requests from the delegates to these meetings.
A special thanks to Apple, Keysight and Tejas, who have supported the hosting of these meetings of 3GPP in India.
The meetings, spread over multiple hotels in North Goa, also give the participants an opportunity to enjoy the picturesque locales and the very pleasant weather at this time of the year.

About 3GPP: 3GPP is a global collaboration of telecommunications standards organisations responsible for developing specifications for mobile communication systems, including advanced 5G and future 6G technologies. The technical work in 3GPP is carried out under three Technical Specification Groups (TSGs): Services & Systems Aspects (SA), Core Network & Terminals (CT), and Radio Access Networks (RAN). Each TSG is supported by multiple Working Groups (WGs), where detailed technical specifications are developed.
The SA Working Groups are responsible for standardisation of overall system architecture, service capabilities, and security aspects of the 3GPP system. The CT Working Groups focus on specifications related to the Core Network and Terminals, including interfaces between User Equipment (UE) and the Core Network, interworking with external networks, policy and charging control, core network protocols, and smart card applications.
About TSDSI: Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI), aims at developing and promoting India-specific requirements, standardizing solutions for meeting these requirements and contributing these to international standards, contributing to global standardization in the field of telecommunications, maintaining the technical standards and other deliverables of the organization, safe-guarding the related IPR, helping create manufacturing expertise in the country, providing leadership to the developing countries (such as in South Asia, South East Asia, Africa, Middle East, etc.) in terms of their telecommunications-related standardization needs.
TSDSI is recognised by the Department of Telecommunications as India’s Telecom Standards Development Organisation (SDO).
